The argument

Inside this module.

For thousands of years, China was the most advanced civilisation on Earth. In sciences, arts, and systems of government, it was centuries ahead. Then came 200 years of decline, exploited by foreign powers. Today China is once again a leading nation, with advancements in science and technology that surpass most of the West. We explore the country's tremendous progress and how its rise will continue to shape the world.

  2. ii.

  3. iii.

  4. iv.

What does the Belt and Road tell us about how Beijing thinks about the next fifty years?

  5. v.

What can the West learn — and what should it refuse to copy — from how China governs?
